A medium-sized herbaceous shrub of the Gesneriaceae from Colombia with glossy, almost black foliage with maroon undersides. Leaf margin is serrated. Easy to grow if kept in dappled to bright shade, and allowed to dry out between waterings. Flowers are trumpet- shaped, and yellow-orange. Suitable for indoor growing.
